During the recent bad weather and strong winds my new car got damaged in my driveway when my neighbours garage collapsed . My insurance paid for repairs , but said I had to pay excess as they couldn't claim my neighbours insurance as they said it would be classed as an Act of God , so due to no fault of mine I'm out of pocket to the tune of £200.00 quid ,plus it has increased my No Claims, which seems pretty unfair. Could I claim back the excess and if so , how. Thanks.

There's no-one to claim the excess from I'm afraid. Did you have no claims protection as that would stop you loosing your NCD?Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Your thread says rip off but nowhere in your post does it say what is a rip off.so due to no fault of mine I'm out of pocket to the tune of £200.00 quid ,plus it has increased my No Claims, which seems pretty unfair.
Whilst some people seem to think that where there is a claim there is blame, that is not always the case. You are welcome to try and claim back the money from the church

To be fair, I have wondered this. Next door have a HUGE chimney, that if it fell, could demolish part of my house and definitely my car if it is parked there, so would I have to pay any excesses if it blew down, even if that was due to lack of maintenence from themselves (ie. pointing and the like).??“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

It it could be proved that lack of maintainence was the cause then you would have a claim against them.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Cheers, although I expect that could be hard to prove once it has blown down.Torry_Quine wrote: »It it could be proved that lack of maintainence was the cause then you would have a claim against them.

You could try and sue the neighbour whose garage it was. It shouldn't have collapsed if maintained properly which is their responsibility.
I can understand fences etc collapsing but a garage is meant to be solid.
