3yrs company car NCD - but not sole user!

In January I made the decision to give back my company car and buy my own. First thing I had to do was get car insurance. I went through the 4 steps to try and get the best deal, and since I had been driving a company car for 3 years without a claim, I thought this would be easy. I got the best quote from yesinsurance $380 (sorry no pound sign!) - so decided to go with them.
They requested a letter from my company stating how many years NCD I had. This was not a problem, and it was emailed to them. I then got a mail back saying that The letter needed to state the date I started and finished using the company car. Not a problem - got another letter emailed to them.
I then got another email stating that the letter from my company needed to say that I had sole use of the company car during the 3 yrs.
I called my company to get another letter sent out, but they were unable to state that I had sole use of the car since it was a fleet car, and anybody at the company could drive it (even though they didn't!!). They could only say that the car was allocated to me.
All this means that my 3 yrs NCD is invalid, and I now have to pay a premium of $800 (more than double).
I'm now thinking of cancelling this policy and taking out insurance with someone else as this may be cheaper.
Does anyone know a company which will take 3 yrs company car NCD on a car which I was not the sole user? or a company which is reasonably priced for people with no NCD?
Cheers.
