Due to a damaged parque floor (rising in one area of the room) we called out a carpenter, and he thought that water after a leak was causing damp (leak fixed). He wrote out a quote and we rang our insurance who paid most of it. Despite uncomfortable dealings during and after the job, to cut a long story short, the floor is rising in exactly the same place as before because the door can now rub the floor, leaving a few scuff marks.
The company, has basically washed their hands clean of us due to some problems after the initial job, as they said we had too much damp - so I had to call another carpernter out who fixed the problem (skirting boards- and no damp!!), As such, I really don't want to call them again, but I am sure I will have to. My question is whether I need to seek legal help here as I know the company will be difficult with me. He was supposed to fix the problem and told us it would be at least 50 yrs before we see any movement in te floor again. I am tempted to phone the insurance company to discuss this but also scared that they would ask for the money to be repaid by us and we really cannot afford this at all.
I would appreciate any suggestions or help on this, because yet again, we ask for one job and the tradesman do what they want to so the the job can be carried out quickly. Having said that, I have an amazing builder right now, and I was tempted to ask him if he has any insight but I don't want to tamper if the carpenter / insurance get involved.
I hope this is clear but I'm really frustrated with this company, Broadleaf, I could always phone head office again, but they didn't want to know as my local branch is just a franchise.
Cheers
