Neff D8990 Cooker hood

Do any of the kitchen guys/gals know if the above extractor can be modified for recirculation? If so do the innards need specific 'tubing' to divert to the vent ducts or will it just find it's own way out of there?? I'm presuming that the £70 carbon filters will be needed...

Ideally I'd like to see the MI for this,, but can't find it anywhere :(

Cheers

Dig up the instruction manual and this will show if the extractor is suitable for recirculation or call Neff.

I have checked Neff dealer resources and I cant locate any information for this model, but it may pre-date the dealer information website.

Yeah - the instructions are the problem - can't find or download anywhere!!
Have found instructions for D8991 - which looks similarish but smaller. They say a kit "Z 5116X5" is needed to convert to recirculation - the 'T' blower bit I was expecting, plus duct etc.

I've emailed customer services... that should produce a laugh...

    Thanks for your help KM

You can get the manual from Neff (although they do charge for it)

    http://www.neff-eshop.com/eshop/neff/gb/prodp.htm?prod=D8990N0GB/01

It's on page 4 of the spares list...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

"Regretfully part number 521210 is no longer available, please delete this part number to continue with your order" Same with 521822

Ho hum - I'll have to see what customer service is like ;)

    Thanks for trying guys

I have the instruction booklet for the Neff D86../D87../D89 cooker hoods in my hand right now. Bizzarely I was coming to this forum to ask for help on reducing drafts from my cooker hood. It has the instructions for installing in exhaust-air mode (which we have) and circulating air mode.

Ruski - Let me know exactly what info you want. I can scan the manual in and send to you as a PDF if you like. PM me with your email address if this would be helpful.

I seem to have found the answer to my own question in the manual as well. We have always had a huge draft coming in through the hood when it is not turned on which is becoming more of an issue now that the cost of fuel is rising as it is an unnecessary waste of heat and also makes the kitchen cold. It looks like we should have a on-way flap installed (available from 'a specialist retailer' according to the manual). When I remove the grease filters and look up inside I can see that there is no flap fitted. I wonder if we could buy and retro-fit this without too much trouble.

There is no reason why you cant fit the one way valve on the outside wall. You probably have a vent grille on the outside that is permanently open to the outside. Whip this off a fit http://www.ducting-online.co.uk/products/304-PL125---RDGG---Gravity-Grille/

Check the duct size you currently have.

Ah no - that's the problem. The vent cover is not on a wall but is horizontal under the sofits of a low roof so that the vent covers with gravity flaps like you linked to would just hang open! The one we have has a single flap that constantly hangs open. It needs some kind of spring so that it stays closed until the pressure of the air pushes it open.

    Any suggestions?
