Dishwasher Advice!

Options
Can anyone help...I was looking to buy a compact dishwasher to go on my worktop or simply sit in a cupboard. I came across the following model which is cheaper than the alternatives:
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/sandstrom-sidttx11-compact-built-in-dishwasher-stainless-steel-10096453-pdt.html?intcmpid=display~RR~Built-in%20Appliances~10096453

I know this is a 'built in' dishwasher, however....
1) could it be used as I intend, i.e. on a worktop?
2) does the plumbing in of a built in model differ from a freestanding one?
3) does it come with a standard plug to go into a normal kitchen socket?

Thanks, in advance!

Completely unknown brand so probably a Chinese effort at the price and, I wouldn't expect much as the build price is likely about £30, if that.

    It should use standard connections.

It won't be suitable for freestanding use. Rough panels, no feet and no weight to hold it in place as it's intended to be fixed to a unit.

Agree with kwatt re using as you describe. Bulit in products need to be built in/housed in some way. For example, the door on mine (a freestanding, built under machine) is quite heavy and is designed to act as a runner for the bottom basket (to aid loading). If if were not located under the worktop, it would tip forward. What about the connections (minimum two, plus power)? The machines (usually) operate at quite high temperatures too. The waste pipe would become quite hot (when the machine pumps out the waste water). Even with insulation the casing may become quite warm (ok in winter but not in the summer months). Respectfully suggest a rethink MrG.......

Keep your eye out for one of these: we've had ours for years and it's a little gem - even room for large dinner plates!

I can echo above, if it isn't fixed in place, it'll just tip over when you open the door. If you get one that is meant to go on the work top, you'll probably be able to put stuff on the top of it, and it'll just look nicer.

Thanks to all for the feedback. I went for a freestanding compact Kenwood from Currys in the end at £199. Good reviews and looks nice.
