Hello

Via Groupon there is a Twelve Month Microsoft Office Online Learning Course for £69 from Learning4You (91% Off)

I am in general management and think I would like to refresh my office skills and perhaps learn more around sharepoint workflow capabilities, hence this looks ideal

Don't know about the company you have found. But i did an online course in"IT use in the workplace" through Vision2learn.

Was easy to follow and free.

  • I too am trying to find information regarding Learning4you. The Microsoft office course for £69 appears to be a bargain. I went on the Vision2learn site as mentioned above and filled in all my details in order to register for a free IT course. DONT DO IT, I THINK IT IS A SCAM TO GET YOUR DETAILS. After I filled in the form it came up with a message saying there weren't any IT courses available and offered me one on Equality and Diversity. Very disappointed , more spam on the way !!!!! I registered here especially to post this because it made me so cross.

I have heard of this company before in the past and was going to do one of their courses. I google'd about the company and couldn't find anything bad about them i suppose thats a good thing.

Maybe its worth the try. Looks like a great course to enroll especially if you get some sort of basic qualification or something at the end of it?

I did one of their courses, Vision2Learn. It was free and good, though very basic. I didn't have to give any banking details. I think the course was like the Computer European Driving Licence. Perhaps it's changed.

Looking at their website they seem to be a recruitment agency. They display IT jobs from itjobswatch.com where they differ from a normal recruitment agency is that they seem to be saying that if you don't have the skills or qualifications for the jobs they show then no problem.

They offer training but at a price. It looks OK on the surface but looking at one of the advertised jobs for Desktop Support they want 2 years experience and preferably MCSE.

It strikes me as a company who is not offering much and wants paying for it. You're not going to get MCSE certification for £69 in fact I don't know if what you get for your money could ever be classed as an investment.

There are plenty of other ways to brush up IT skills without paying.

Dont know anything about Learning4You but I second Vision2learn. It's most certainly not a scam. I have just completed a level 2 course with then, updating all my ms office skill and it cost me absolutely nothing. They are very good.

Be aware though that the places are limited and it does depend on whether a college in your area is running the particular course you want to study. I had to wait about 6 months, til the course I wanted was available.

Best of luck on your studies.

  • I would say the way they operate seems a bit suspect with addresses not right and charges being made. I contacted them in Newcastle but they ask for bank details. This seems uneccesary if the courses are free as advertised. I have thrown the paperwork away as they have not emailed to acknowledge receipt of my application. i think they may be taking advantage of people in difficult circumstances. This is my opinion and you can get a free trial of Microsoft Office on their webite and update when you need to. So take care out there!

I second that. 'Free IT courses' led me to vision2learn and caution on receiving the paperwork led me here (and other threads on here). I was asked to register with a college on the other side of the country on a not very professional looking multi-page form, looked like a dodgy photocopy. Not much seemed right about it. The 'pay-up if you don't complete' condition I think may refer to the underlying reality of their business; they get central funds while you're enrolled and active and this is their raison d'etre. A decent qualification might or might not come your way, but I think it's almost a by-product.

Just as a matter of interest, has the OP considered a computer related course at a local night school ... Sometimes the basic courses are free and further courses very cheap.

I was actually talking to a chap today, who has just started a course, taking place in a local hall and run by the Council. He said it was free and will last 10 weeks.
