How to return the forum view back to normal

MSE are entitled to progress, not only in style and content. The most recent progression to MSE forums, was their narrow forum view now enforced upon users unless they have already changed this.

There is likely to be many users who are wondering how on earth they get full use of their display again. I will tell you how to do this, below, as best as I can:

1. In the solid-green bar, near the top of the page, there is a link to User CP (user control panel) - click this.

2. Down the left hand green side is a link to Edit options - again, click this.

3. Right at the bottom, under the section named "Miscellaneous Options", there is a option to change the "Forum skin".

Now to get full use of your display again, and not be forced to read through a sideways letterbox, change the "Forum skin" to "New masthead, stretchy". Then press the "Save Changes" button at the very bottom, and admire the old, but better IMO, forum view.

Feel free to try some of the other skins, you won't do any harm.

There's very recently been a change to the text near the top of each Forum web-page, so that it now reads:

MSE has a new masthead. The forum’s also gone fixed width. Find out what’s changed (& how to opt for stretchy width)

There you can join the ever-lengthening thread largely contributed to by people who seem to dislike the new "half-width" 1024-pixel-wide format (on 1920 x 1080 screens)!

And why not, it's worse than watching a 4:3 picture on a widescreen TV with black bands down ths side.

There is so much white streaming from my monitor I can now put the light out and still see to read a book.

However it is fixable.
