Bear in mind that if the tenancy is on a Joint and Several basis, when you give notice, you will have given notice for all the other tenants. You should alert them to this so they can make their own arrangements with the landlord.
During the FT I thought all joint tenants had to sign. Or is my brain befuddled and got it the wrong way round...0 -
All the other tenants moved in at different times. It is a joint contract and the other tenants names aren't on my copy anywhere but there are spaces for other names. The other tenants have all got their own copies of the contract with their own moving in dates and we pay our rent seperately directly to the LL.
Thanks again.Saving for a deposit: £11,000 / £50,000 (22%)0 -
Isn't that the case once it's Periodic?

Yes to all! Basically when anyone new moved in we showed them round and then gave feedback to the LL. Apart from the last time when a friend of the one I dislike moved in to replace a guy who was only here a couple of months.Saving for a deposit: £11,000 / £50,000 (22%)0 -
More difficult to say it is individual rather than J&S if you had the option to refuse any of them. But you say one guy left? How did he leave?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Not sure about the ins and outs, I only found out he was moving out at quite short notice and then the friend of the one I don't like moved in. But he was only here about 3-4 months.Saving for a deposit: £11,000 / £50,000 (22%)0 -
Sounds increasingly like each tenant has an individual contract.
So OP can activate his break clause on his tenancy without impacting the others.0
