Lent Pressure Washer and Now the Person Refuses to Give it Back

Options
My husband lent our pressure washer to a work 'colleague' as he was moving house. He 'forgot' to give it back before he moved. He has move about 3 hours away and will not respond to any calls or texts asking for it back.

A friend who was near to where he now lives even went and asked for it but he said he would call my husband but never did.

Where do we stand and what can we do? I have searched the internet without success and really don't know what we can do about it, is it classed as theft as we lent it out?

We would be grateful for any advice.

Blimey, 96 views and no one has an answer lol.
To be honest, its a tricky situation due to the distance. The only thing that springs to mind is to ask your friend once again to visit but this time to actually collect the washer on your behalf.
    How much is it worth?

Unless you want to make a 3 hour journey to sort him out you don't stand anywhere.

Depends how much/good the pressure washer is/was. If you spent anything less than £100 on it, the cost of travel, time, aggro are all likely to add up to more than the cost of replacing the damn thing.

I'd be tempted to chalk it up to experience - but then again I only spent £50 on mine.....

If you have the address, and aren't too bothered about maintaining a friendship, I'd be tempted to write to him stating that you need him to return it or you will commence small claims court proceedings for an amount to enable you to buy a replacement one.
