Still paying loan?

Hi guys,
I'm new to MoneySavingExpert, so apologies if this question has been asked before...
My wife took out several loans some years back (about 12-15 years ago I think) at I time when I was self employed. At least one was with Yorkshire Bank where we held a joint account, and all monthly repayments were made from the joint account. I'm fairly sure that we took insurance when it was offered as we always worried that we'd be turned down for the loan if we didn't. (I'm pretty sure that we have all the relevant paperwork in the loft somewhere if we need to drag that out). Time passes and my business fails and we default on our payments. We're currently making repayments on the original loans - some directly to the banks, others through collections companies. My question is - am I still able to claim PPI mis-selling after this long and because I'm still technically paying off the loan?
