For £100 don't bother as the sound quality will be naff and more than likely an all in one system which I would avoid like the plague!
At the very least, for blu ray I would get a proper AV system (amp and speakers) as then you would have sound to blow you away along with that picture:)
A good starter only as 2.1, but you can upgrade later with the extra speakers pack when funds allow

Double your price range, handles HD audio, but really will be worth it in the long run;)0 -
£100 probably won't buy you something that sounds very good.
Take a look at the Soundbars and Speaker Packages at Richer Sounds - they have quite good deal on both. Looks like you'll need £120 for their cheapest 6-speaker package, though.
[Edit: As callistris has already said, you'll probably need an AV amp as well, though some TVs have 5.1 output, and IIRC a few soundbars have digital input and internal surround decoding.]0 -
As has been pointed out, £100 isn't really enough but at the moment there are good deals on the Sharp HT-SB250, which has got good reviews. What you really need is at least something like the Q-TV2, but if you don't want to spend that money I would suggest the Sharp.0

yeah I know its not much, I'm just not that bothered about sound (but do want something better than the TV)
I might up the budget as the TV cost me 899 so not point getting something thats going to bring the whole experience down0 -
All in one packages are fine if you just want more than the TV sound, and want a full 5.1 system.
Of course, it is always better to go for seperates, but that will cost a lot more. And not everyone wants / needs a top of the range system.
I bought and LG 5.1 DVD system for around £150, and have been very happy with it. Integrates very well with my LG TV. I know it will never match a full seperates system, but works for my needs.0 -
OK, £100 will NOT buy you a home cinema sound system, but it WILL make a significant improvement on the crappy sound that comes out of these ever thinner TVs with ever tinier and tinnier speakers!
I wouldn't waste money on surround sound 5.1 systems, you're just throwing money on rubbish speakers. Try looking around at soundbars by some decent brands. Check the inputs they have and make sure you know how to connect your TV/DVD/PS3 etc to it.
Or for real money saving why not connect an existing amp/speakers or stereo system to it?0
