Faulty Sofa from DFS

Hi
Can anyone offer advice please.
We purchased two (3 & 2 seat) sofas from DFS on 14/06/2008, delivered to us as promised and we were quite happy for a few weeks.
Then I noticed that the padding on the seats had sunk quite considerably and also the arm on one sofa (which are large and padded) also sunk in when simply leaning on it!!
We grew increasingly unhappy and so contacted DFS within a few months of delivery.
They sent a guy out to look at it! Which he did and said that he would add additional padding to the sofa's to bulk them back out and make them look like new again.
He also commented to us, which I found unbelievable that these sofas are now classed as throw away items, there is no real quality to them as people change their decor and sofas every couple of year, so the craftsmanship of old simply isn't there!!!
I was quite shocked as I though that I had bought a bargin as the sofa was on offer at the time and certainly expected them to have a life expectancy of more that 2 years as he insinuated!
Well, we have had the sofas since mid 2008 and yes we are in 2012, but, the large sofa is in a really bad way compared to the smaller one!
I am writing a letter of complaint to DFS today as the initial problems did return with use, and worsened! Plus the large sofa the whole frame has become loose and the underside frame has sunk to the point that if there are 2 people on the sofa it will touch the floor and there should be a 2 inch gap!!
I know under SOGA that I have 6 years to complain but do I really have a case after all this time?
Personally I do not feel that it is a general wear and tear issue as WRT the frame, the smaller sofa is fine.
I will be asking for repair or replacement.
Any comments appreciated.

HOLY S&&! DSF is having a Sale everybody, better rush down before you miss it.!!!!!!
But no in all seriousness, SoGA takes into account the price paid and craftmanship. You have very little to no chance of a exchange or refund, they might send someone out to pad it out again but that will be about it.
And it will probably be Wear And Tear on the frame, as (like I've mentioned above price is a factor) the repeated action of sitting/jumping/moving over a 4 year period will loosen bolts/cause timber/mdf to loose shape etc etc.
Sorry, write a letter by all means and keep it to the point (the above bits about what the engineer said is fluff abd useless to everyone who reads it)0
