....can you confirm when BT stopped issuing invites on auto-renew (ie rolling) contracts for existing AnytimePlan customers?
Thanks in advance.

About the same time OFCOM told them to end the practice. From memory, it was ended in September, so there were no renewals of the lock-in, however all contracts continue as before until the customer cancels.0
-
Buzby, do you mean September 2011?
I too had been following the Ofcom matters on and off, but until recent days had not realised they had been settled. That said, I would have thought BT would have been obliged to write to customers already on auto-renew contracts that had an end date later in 2011/12 (ie Oct onwards) to make them aware of the situation, as I would guess not every customer already on auto-renew would have known about the changes nor realised that when their current contract was due for renewal, no renewal would be sent and that they would therefore be free to go elsewhere if they wished.however all contracts continue as before until the customer cancels.
Any input from BT Rep would still be welcome.butterfly )i(0 -
I thought new Rollover's were banned from December 2011, but prior existing one's can run until they complete, but you need to check on that.0
-
Even supposing prior existing contracts were to be allowed to run until they completed, surely BT would need to tell the customer they wouldn't be 'inviting' renewal and that the customer would therefore need to be given the opportunity to make a choice to go onto either a new 'non auto-renewing' contract or suchlike (and obviously thereby alerting the customer, even if not stating such, that would be free to move elsewhere if they wanted to)?butterfly )i(0

Hi butterflymum
We stopped selling auto renewable contracts for broadband and telephone lines in August and September 2010 however any customers already on one of these contracts will still get automatically renewed if their anniversary is on or before 2 December 2011, unless they have chosen to opt-out of the auto renewing contract.

Hi butterflymum
If you contract was due to renew after the 2nd December your contract will not renew automatically but you'll still have the same products and services at the same price
