Lloyds TSB Bank Charges

Hi everyone,
I'm posting on behalf of my mum, who went into Lloyds last friday to check her statement (she no longer gets them in the post for whatever reason) and a member of staff flagged up a £8.95/month charge on her account. Apparently she's on an old 'select account' that offers AA breakdown, phone insurance and card protection all for this monthly charge.
The issue is that Lloyds seem to have moved her onto this account way back when TSB and Lloyds merged, and there's no proof that she ever agreed to these charges. This means that she's been paying £8.95/month for something like 10/11 years now, something like a grand down the drain. What's more she's never even had forms for the breakdown, phone insurance and card protection so they've not even been providing her with any additional services.
The part where I need some advice is when it comes to claiming this back; I'm not sure if this falls under the usual PPI reclaims procedure. She had a meeting with the bank yesterday who wanted her to agree to drop the case for a nominal sum of £107 (sounded a bit dodgy to me, like they know they're in the wrong). Moreover, the Lloyds staff member in the meeting kept telling her that if she went to the Ombudsman she would most likely come away with nothing, which seems a bit like a scare tactic.
Any help would be most appreciated!

No forms are required to register for the AA breakdown cover. She is automatically registered.
For the other services she is required to register by calling them or online.

£107 is one years fees.
I doubt whether she would be successful in getting all 10 years of fees back.
If she has been paying this fee for 10 years it would be reasonable to expect her to have noticed earlier and taken the appropriate action.
I'm assuming she has been receiving statements at some point in the last 10 years.0 -
Thanks for your reply.
She does have AA membership separately though and no-one has ever flagged up that she is already covered. Do you think it would be worthwhile trying to fight for more than the £107 though, if not the full amount?0 -
