yep - i am i admin on a car forum and legally you cannot drive the car.
If you choose to drive the car then thats up to you, it depends what the copper is like if/when you get pulled....
You also have the guns that can read the details of the car your driving and will know if you have tax, insurance, MOT.March 2006 £15,200+ in debt April £843.64 in debt - Debt Free date Sept 2009

I don't know how quickly they update the DVLA records with regard to insurance, have you tried taxing it on-line.

Worth a shot!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -

you can only tax online with a new style MOT cert and you legally have to display your disc in the window. If you apply online then it will take a few days for it to arriveMarch 2006 £15,200+ in debt April £843.64 in debt - Debt Free date Sept 2009

Last time i had this problem I filled out a form at the PO - You do need the V5 document as well, but i think so plong as you have that, the MOT and the cover note there shouldnt be a problem
Sorry - i didnt notice the about about the Insurance (However if its a local broker they can provide a cover note)No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

you need to show all documents to get it taxed at the post office including the insurance, which mike said wont arrive for a few days.C_Ronaldo wrote:could you not go to the post office and get then taxMarch 2006 £15,200+ in debt April £843.64 in debt - Debt Free date Sept 2009

Is'nt the V5/2 sufficent enough for tax?0

Would the Post Office accept a faxed copy of an insurance certificate??? If they would you could ask your insurance provider to fax the certificate to you.
Last time I bought a car from a garage I faxed my insurance certificate to the garage and they had the tax (they supplied as part of the deal) ready when I went to pick the car up. I don't know if they used my certificate or theirs to purchase the tax at the PO though.0
