Long story short payroll sent my wages to my account that doesn't require a roll number but for some reason they supplied one anyway due to admin error, will it still reach my account as long as the account number and sort code are correct or will it sit in a suspense account? if it helps my bank account is with co-operative bank and as far as i know they don't use roll numbers.

It'll arrive safely.
The unnecessary reference they've supplied will not make a difference.0 -
Thank you for the reply thats a load off my mind.0

In principle the reference should be at your disposal. If you had a lot of people sending you money, you should be able to tell them what to put in the reference box to cross-reference the payment, since otherwise all you've got to go on is a name.
Building societies that hog the reference for their roll numbers are just hogs. It's time they were all shot."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0
