I am heading for a DLA tribunal on the 7th of Feb.
I believe that at this, I am likely to be granted backdated benefit which would entitle me to one of the qualifying benefits for the warm-home discount from Jan 2011 to now.
Does anyone know if it's possible to make a retrospective application for this period?
Thanks.

Don't know Roger. Something here. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Pensionsandretirementplanning/Benefits/BenefitsInRetirement/DG_185940?CID=PRP&PLA=url_mon&CRE=warm_home
I joined (should say re-joined Ebico) in March '11, applied in August, received letter Sept 8th confirming eligibility under Attendance Allowance benefit. Scheme runs from lst April 2011 until 31 march 2012.
Moving providers MAY affect payment. Fresh application each year, probably before September.0 -
Hi,
Good question Roger.
Good Luck with your appeal hearing.
I'm preparing for an ESA Appeal Hearing, which will probably be in either Feb or March.
This Warm Home Discount Scheme confuses me.
I think I read somewhere on the Direct Gov site in the past, that if awarded the 'Work Related Activity Group' component of Employment and Support Allowance, then people are eligible for this NPower discount.
Is that correct?
Many Thanks.0 -
PS - I'm on the Spreading Warmth NPower Tariff.
They credited my bill with £40 in December I think.
Is that the same thing as their 'Warm Home Discount'?0 -

I'm not in receipt of Pension Credit, so apparently I come under their 'Broader Group'?0 -
That's me out then!
Hope the info below helps someone.

npower's Warm Home Discount
What is the Warm Home Discount?
The government and energy suppliers are running a scheme to help households in England, Scotland and Wales who need it most to get a rebate from their electricity bill.
The Warm Home Discount offers eligible npower customers an annual benefit of £120 (Inclusive of VAT) on their electricity bill.
Who is eligible?
npower customers are eligible for the Warm Home Discount if they are in receipt of:
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) which includes a work-related activity or support component
Who also have any of following:
a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or sever disability premium
a disabled child premium
Child Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element
a child under five living with them
If you’re in receipt pension credit you may also be eligible for the Warm Home Discount, however you don’t need to apply as the Department for Work and Pensions will contact you directly towards the end of 2011. For 2011/12 this will be households in receipt of the guarantee element of pension credit.
How does it work?
The annual benefit of £120 (Inclusive of VAT) will be given to customers as a payment to their electricity account each year.
Pre-payment customers will receive the discount through Post Office vouchers which will be sent to you
How do I apply?
You will be required to provide a declaration that you meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme, and to continue receiving the discount on an annual basis may be required to provide further declarations.
You may be required to provide further written documentary evidence of eligibility before receiving a rebate in any scheme year.
Please call 0808 172 6999 to apply0
