Before you contact the hotel manager, there is one thing to make sure of.
Has your doctor told you that your injury has totally healed, or is there a possibliity that you might suffer from any further problems in the future?
It's not uncommon for people with joint fractures to suffer from aches & pains due to the cold, or they may be problems with restricted movement.
If there's any doubt whatsoever, you should speak to your doctor again, and even though you don't want financial compensation now (apart from you actual losses), you may find that this could change in the future.0 -

Hi Shaun. Are you really from Africa? How exotic! Thanks very much for your reply.
My ankle isn't totally healed, I'm getting the cast off in 10 days. I had x-rays on 30/12 and again on 05/01 and my lovely consultant was very pleased with them, and said he could see a good start to healing already - this is how I got away with not having to have surgery on it. I know the ankle is an awkward thing to break, because it's so crucial to movement and weight-bearing, and I know I'm at risk of developing arthritis in it now. I'm buoyed by how positive the consultant was, though. Even if I do develop problems like this... I still won't want to sue. I just won't. I'm sentimental about things and I know this sounds stupid in the context of factual consumer rights stuff, but that hotel reminds me of great times when my dear grandparents were alive, and they looked after us really well when we had their wakes there. My grandparents would be very disapproving of suing. I don't like those personal injury companies and I don't like the culture around them. People I know have had idiots trying to sue them for stupid little things. When I was in A&E, on the back of my Fracture Clinic appointment card was an advert for one of them. They're like vultures!0 -

I was working there when I first set up my MSE account, hence the user name.
I've worked mainly in Nigeria, Mauritania and Libya, and these countries aren't really what I would refer to as exotic.0 -
So what did the hotel say when your accident was logged into their accident book?
Did the hotel give medical aid or call for medical aid?0 -

Well, nothing. The waiter just wrote down what had happened, that I had hurt my ankle, and that I had not wanted for them to call an ambulance. As I could wiggle me piggies and walk on it (with great pain and difficulty), we assumed it couldn't be broken; so when he asked if I wanted him to call an ambulance, I said no. (Also, it was close to midnight on Boxing Day and we were about 20 miles from the nearest A&E in Belfast. Not an inviting prospect!) I asked for some water and he brought me it, and he called us a cab. He was very kind.0
