Evening all. It's only a short visit tonight - I'm really tired and heading off to bed early however I do have a question so wondering if anyone had any ideas.
I have a nice cream jacket with "frayed" edges which I've never really worn. The reason is that it "casts" thread/fluff all over whatever I wear beneath it. It's 100% cotton and says hand wash only- unlined. Can anyone suggest what I could do to stop it moulting on my clothes? I'm loathed to give it away because I really like it, I just don't wear it often due to it shedding all over me.
Any suggestions welcome:)0 -
sm, does it still cast fluff after washing? what about a spray of some sort on the inside, something a bit `sticky` as a last resort, hairspray maybe
I made 4 veg lasagnes for the freezer yesterday and that is a turn around for me as I haven`t made freezer meals for over 10 years, I decided to alter slightly my freezer use and cut down a bit on basics like meat and cooked beans and frozen veg. Apart from the meat, butter and cheese, everything in the freezer is home produced anyway so I am just changing tack to make life easier
My hm bottled passata came in very handy and was lovely, first time opened yesterday, so I am getting more jars as bottling the os way is something I want to do more of this year. I`ll be growing many more tomato plants now. Bottled tomatoes and apple chunks look great, so bottling is the way forward for me as it needs no fridge space. Blackcurrants, rhubarb, blackberries, gooseberries etc
I have taken to making fruit smoothies for 2 almost everyday eg yesterday, pineapple, kiwi, apple juice and a couple of spoons of yogurt and I add a tsp of linseeds. That and the veg we eat makes sure that we get about 7 a day and it also makes use of the otherwise wasted pineapple core
Veg growing is in limbo just now, not much to do, many seeds are up and growing on nicely. Watering is the most dangerous time as damping off occurs all to easily, so I water from the bottom. I left the tomatoes chillis and peppers out all night for the first time last night but I did put bubble wrap over the blow away they are in. I have to keep an eye on the night time temperatures now. All I am doing today is transplanting coriander into a trough, with water gel as they need moisture.
I had a £10 code for a first sainsbury internet shop, so that saves going on my infrequent shop. I spent £56 and am expecting delivery saturday, no diesel and money off as well, lovely. I also downloaded a 69p app for my ipod, it is about meters and I have input all my meter reading for 18 months and it gives me graphs and average use, interesting stuff. I used to use imeasure, until it went commercial and complicated. I love the radio app too as I can get loads of clear channels, lol I only entered the modern world 3 months ago. I do have a couple of simple games, one with me being chased by monkeys and having to jump and turn corners and another called bejewelled. Silly me but I like them, the first helps my reactions and the second must help something or other
I was oh so busy yesterday, so want a quieter day today, may go on the bus as it is `use it or use it` as we are very rural. I have noticed that I am now back to a very good sleeping habit, could be because of being out more or could be due to hearing the quiet filter fan as it stops my mind being busy.
Oh I must get some local eggs, I have seen more notices outside so hens are laying again, £1 for 6 eggs but there are quite a few sellers so it will remain low around here. Eggs are very very good for you0 -

I found a new site from which I ordered my kilners
http://www.barnitts.co.uk/?search=kilner&x=15&y=8
I don`t know what the company is like so I`ll report back when the goodies arrive. Look right down the page at the square push tops. They are fab, so gorgeous for an open shelf or behind glass doors. Pricey but they look it and what an amazing wedding present they would make. I wish I had seen them before I bought my tea and coffee containers. All I can say is lakeland look out, this store has (shopping) potential
I got a doz local eggs for £2 yesterday and they are as fresh as could be. I had a freezer splurge and managed to use up 3 packs of hm frozen saute`ed leeks in a leek and cheese quiche. I also found sainsburys roasting potatoes (dinner for 2 offer) and used half, nice but not as nice as the ones I made and froze. Also used a pack of spiced red cabbage, now that freezes very well indeed. I daren`t count the frozen beans I have still to use
Now what to do during the next few days of nice weather, I don`t know really, maybe a few bike rides. I want to go out but not in the car. We are rural and live in tourist country so may as well stay local0 -
Kittie you are inspired, have just been presented with the last of the leek crop from the allotment and will make a quiche with some and saute the rest with some bacon pieces to have with potato gnocchi for lunch today. Also found a large red cabbage lurking at the back of the fridge so it is currently on the hob becoming Rotkohl mit Apfeln - german red cabbage casserole! Thank you!0

I've been in bed all day as am on nights at the moment. It was wonderful hearing the birds singing this morning though. They started at about 4am.

snap ftm: we spent a few hours cleaning then decking yesterday and it looks nice again and Osmo decking oil will go on next week. I just saw the most amazing brush set for outside, on qvc and I have ordered one

The green stuff does need taking off every year or it easily gets slippery and the brushes will do the trick. Dh was on hands and knees yesterday with an os wire brush. It`s amazing the inventions they come up with
Sainsburys came yesterday and what a let down, the main part of the order was moo organic skimmed milk and they never had any, although my nearest sainsbury always has a lot in, so it means taking the car out tomorrow and using powdered milk today. Still I got £10 off so I haven`t lost anything, except convenience
Sausage making today as I now have a big pork shoulder and a bit of pork belly. Mincing first and then mixing and filling and then I have to let them sit in the fridge overnight. I like to know what is in my food, speaking of which, I ordered perle du lait on special offer and I looked at the ingredients. Skimmed milk and cream, (what is wrong with whole milk) and a great long list of additives. So thanks for the taste offer but no more for me
I am still making smoothies, yesterday for 2, half a pineapple minus skin, 1 kiwi, apple juice and a perle du lait and a tsp linseeds. Lovely. I am going to mush excess strawberries up as they appear this year and I am putting them in little baby food boxes in the freezer. This year I have 64 plants and last year 12 and I got a fair few last year. Ooooh, I just remembered that I have 12 garanguette on order and the`ll sit happily in my towers. Lol, 75, I remember someone saying that they had their eye on 75 plants and I thought that was a lot. Lol, it is amazing how they can be stashed away0
