I received a parking charge notice for £80 (or £50 if paid within 13 days) from Parking Eye
Say no more. You don't owe them anything, not even an hour's parking, as you didn't park. Ignore everything you receive from them, send them no further communication, no matter how threatening their letters (it's all bluster).
Check out the sticky threads on this forum, and take a look at the stacks of threads regarding Parking Eye, and you'll see just what a scam this is, and that you're quite safe and within your rights to ignore the whole thing.
If I thought it was worth it (which it isn't) I would possibly report them to Trading Standards for attempting to penalise people who haven't even parked, because of their inadequate systems in place.0 -

Eeeek, what were you thinking of?! It's a scam for Gawd's sake, not a parking ticket! Just ignore it from now on and if you want to see other threads on this forum where people have 'already appealed' (oh no they haven't!!) just search this sub-forum for the keywords 'private parking ticket already appealed'.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!

The advice of "writing" to private parking companies is out of date, does not work and should be removed from the site as soon as possible.
