Being redirected from Google searches

Just recently some of my Google searches have been redirected to random search websites. I've run my Avast, it finds nothing. Ran Malawayrebytes, finds nothing. Ran Spybot, still nothing. But this is still happening. All my programs are up to date and nothing new has been installed on the PC so not sure what the problem is or where it has came from.

I've ran HijackThis and I'm hoping somebody can help me out.

A word of advice, stop installing toolbars
Also uninstall EVERY toolbar you dont use (presumably all of them)

Did you update SPYBOT? Seems odd thats not found anything? (Ditto malwarebytes)
have you run a FULL malwarebytes scan? (if not, then I recommend you do so)

Download this and save it to your desktop.

    http://public.avast.com/~gmerek/aswMBR.exe

    When you've downloaded it...
    • Double click aswMBR.exe to run it
    • Click yes to the prompt to download Avast! virus definitions.
    • Set the AVscan to Quick Scan, & click the Scan button.
    • When the scan reports "Scan finished successfully", click Save log & save the log to your desktop.
    • Click OK when prompted. aswMBR.txt & MBR.dat will be appear on your desktop.
    • Click EXIT.
    • Copy & paste the contents of aswMBR.txt & post it here.
Don't click to fix anything yet, just post the log.

That looks ok - Are you being redirected still? Do you connect to the internet through a router?

Download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:
    Link

After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:
    • Double click DDS to run it.
    • When it's finished, DDS will open two logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
Save both reports to your desktop.
Copy & paste the contents of just DDS.txt for now and post it here (you may need to split the log over separate posts)

    Eh?? Have I missed something...?
  • Same thing happened on my girlfriend's laptop. She was also using avast, which sometimes picked up a threat but didn't fix it. I ran the eset online scanner I found in this thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/78360

    Since then it's been fine.

sorry forgot to say also did what you said. Yes everything had been updated and yes it still didn't find anything. Also deleted all the toolbars that I didn't use.

Thanks to both of you. It seems I'm no longer being redirected.

Toolbars whilst not actually malicious, can bring the internet to a complete stop in some cases.
U torrent, Tversity and the ASK toolbars (of which there are MANY variants) are not good to have on your computer.
But it was the GAMESBAR that was probably creating the biggest issue with your computer

Because these bars 'generally' have to be installed by the user to actually get on your computer, most anti virus software wont flag them up at all as its deemed youve 'accepted' them

Theres a lot of genuine free software that comes with these toolbars (U-torrent as an example), be aware when your installing whats ticked and what isnt

    Happy computing :p

You can delete aswMBR & aswMBR.txt

In My Documents you have a file called MBR.dat - I'd copy this to either a CD, Flash drive or external hard drive as it's a copy of your DELL MBR in it's current state.

It may come in handy for future use should your DELL MBR become infected or corrupt.
