EDF Cannot Submit Gas Reading After Switching In September

To be honest they will be awaiting gas flows, ofgem (dont deal with customer complaints think you me energy ombudsman) cant rush the system process, think edf are giving you the longest time.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Forget it until EDF eventually get your account live, for what it's worth.
Work out how much gas you've used since switching. Your last BG bill may show the formula they used to convert the reading difference to kWh and it should be pretty accurate to use that. Work out the electricity cost also, which is easier as the meter measures kWh. You'll need your EDF tariff details to work out your actual cost. If you can handle a simple spreadsheet, you'll be able to do it. Don't forget the standing charge, discounts and VAT. Then add up your DD payments made and see where you stand. You may be a little in debt this time of year, but it should give you a reasonable idea.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I can easily submit electricity readings but not gas. I have contacted EDF several times and the most recent reply today states that my gas account has "not gone into live status" whatever that means and could take another two months because of back logs. I am paying a monthly DD but have no idea how my much I owe for gas. I know that EDF are supplying gas because BG told me and I owe them nothing, so who do I complain to - OFGEN ?
i am in the same situation as you !!, only now i am into my 13th month , i have spent maybe a week on the phone !!, i was allocated my own advisor eventually who rang me on a few occasions to get things sorted for me , but to no avail , money has been taken from my bank account for both gas & electric , but all the money ends up in the electric account & i am so much in credit £255 they then stop takeing any more money for a few months. i have done everything humanly possible to get things going , but my health as been suffering through this aggro ,so now i have given up to it , i wish i knew how i stand with the law on this now ?, i am trying to keep chilled & hope they forget about me now ??, will they be able to chase me for the money owed ?, when i kick the bucket?.

Have you tried paying the gas bill over the phone to EDF? If they have stopped taking the money for a few months, you should have something available. Phone them, once again unfortunately, give them readings and offer to make a payment against the gas bill, since your electric is heavily in credit. Ask for the credit back on your electric and see what they say.
As you have probably found, the staff you get on the phone are friendly and as helpful as they can be. They're invariably at the mercy of a computer system which is totally unfit for purpose, but they might be able to do something.
Failing that, put the money they haven't taken aside until they do finally produce a bill and demand payment. I can't see them having a leg to stand on to chase a debt on one utility if you are in credit with them on the other.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. In that case keep quiet unless contacted. Under the "Billing Code" energy consumed more than 12 months prior cannot be charged for, so should drop off month by month. In addition Edf would in be in breach of the Terms and Conditions clause requiring at least an annual bill.
That said it would be sensible to set aside the cost of your gas. Easily worked out using a comparison website.0 -

hi victor.
thankyou for your reply, i have spent a lifetime on the phone trying to pay the said gas bill, you cannot give a reading if you have no gas contract with them!, i have had my own friendly advisor ringing me !! trying to sort it out but no joy what so ever, its in their hands now as i have gone down every avenue now & i do not want to get worked up about it anymore, they will have to dig me up now to get the money!!, i dont want them supplying the gas to the coffin !! as i want to be at peace ahahahahaha!.
i have just recieved a letter saying they are changeing my ELECTRIC meter.
kind regards.
