Vanquis Bank Repayment Protection Cover

I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong area.

I have just had a call from Vanquis with whom I hold a credit card regarding my account. They happened to mention that I would be charged approx. £25 this month for what they termed 'Repayment Protection Cover'. As this was the first I had ever heard of the fact I was paying for this I queried it and was told that it was cover designed to freeze the interest on my account in case of 'financial difficulty' such as unemployment and sickness. Apparently I had signed up to this some time before (2010). I disputed this with the lady as I have not worked during this time due to ill-health and therefore would not have met the conditions for the policy to kick in because I: a)didn't have a job to be made redundant from, and b) had pre-existing health conditions with would have invalidated the policy. When i said I wanted to cancel the policy with immediate effect I was put through to another gentleman who said I apparently had signed up to this policy through a 1p trial offer in June 2010. Now I can certainly remember signing up to a 1p trial offer but I was definatly given the impression that this was a trial of e-vanquis (their online account management system/text alerts etc.). If I had been told about the repayment cover then I would have said it was not appropriate for me and I did not want it. At no time since have I received any written documentation regarding this cover. I asked on the phone today for some written confirmation of the terms and conditions of this policy and was basically refused it and fobbed off. Vanquis are now going to launch a formal complaint and listen to the original phone call from 2010 when I apparently signed up to this cover and get back to me within a week. Is there anything I should be doing in the meantime or that I should ask for from them? Incidentally, when I asked if this cover was PPI I was told definately not "we do not sell PPI". I am afraid I don't know enough about PPI to know if this is true or not, so if anyone better informed than me can let me know I would be very grateful.

Thanks
