The change in Boots policy for awarding points has come about I would say in the last three months.
The most important thing is THEY HAVE CHANGED and it is obviously a consequence of something......somebody, somewhere has said they are giving away too much and a policy change has been implemented.
All I am saying is any company reviews its promotions - what the net effect is on profits and margins and changes can come about. The recent change at Tesco's Refund and Retain policy is a case in point. Tesco still makes massive profits but even so they were not going to let a small band of people take them for a ride on R and R - which is what happened. So they changed the policy to affect all customers. The actions of a few result in a curtailment for the rest.
If Boots detect that there is widescale abuse they will tighten things up - egged on by their staff reporting stroppy customers wanting - not to put too fine a point on it - a "better deal" than a shoplifter !0 -
clareyp wrote:Firstly thanks to everyone on this board - I went today & did my first boots trip today after trawling through the boards for tips yesterday!
I bought various sanctuary & no 7 bits , however the bargain of the day was that my local boots was giving away a no 7 gift set with any no 7 electrical purchase (it was an old set as the vouchers in it expired in June 2006 - however it contains almost the same products as the current gift )
I managed to use 4 no 7 vouchers to get 4 facial / pedicure kits & 4 no 7 gift sets for free! - That's Mothers day completely sorted! ... and I managed to get a Max factor box - yipee!0 -
By the way, for some strange reason i thought mothers day was this sunday (have now been told otherwise) so i got my Mum and MIL 's Mothers day cards today in boots, i normaly always get them from the card shop but had a look and boots had some really beautful cards very impressed, so i got two and it came to just over £5, so got another voucher as well!! Defently worth it if you have to buy two anyway..People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...
It is much easier to see other people's failings than our own.0 -

do you not think all companies should review their policies after ten years???
so i doubt its to do with these specific glitches in the past few months
and in comparison points wise aslong as we are getting the bonus points then the other points are usually a lot less so we are still getting bargainsIf you want the rainbow you have to go through the rain.

BargainMad wrote:In response to people asking if Boots tills are playing up - they have CHANGED THEIR POLICY on points awarding.
For weeks now if I have used a bonus or extra points coupon then the UNDERLYING transaction for that item does not earn points.
So if you buy something for £3 you would normally get 12 points. However if you have used, say, a 100 point coupon, then this over rides the 12 points and you just get the 100 instead. Previously you would get 112.
This is only a recent change but it will be national and I do not think they are going to reverse it.
We had nearly 10 years of the old system so I guess we will just have to accept the new system with good grace.
I know I bore people with saying don't milk the stores TOO MUCH but the above change has probably come about because the bean counters have mentioned Boots are giving away TOO MANY POINTS
What worries me is that the same bean counters may say they are giving away too many vouchers - particularly with the complaints they cause - and the good times will be well and truly over.
Hastening this on would be the people who get things FREE and then take them back for full price refunds - you will go to the well too often and ruin it for the rest of us. Boots are not as stupid as some MSErs think.
If that the case they should be called something other than "BONUS" points. A bonus is something extra.....we should still be getting the points we have earned!!I used to have a life............................... before MSE!!

I tried mine today and I am very disappointed with it
It didn't curl my lashes at all and it seems a bit dangerous to put that heat so close to your eyes?
