Hi, All this benefits malarkey!!..I'm confused. BBC says it starts next year and HMRC says it starts in April this year?
Which is it then please?

The annual cap would come into force in England, Scotland and Wales from 2013.

<H2>The income limit for Child Tax Credit is going down
Child Tax Credit payments depend on your circumstances and income.
At the moment, you can usually get some Child Tax Credit, as long as your income is not over the limit of £41,300. From 6 April 2012, this limit will be lower for most people.
From 6 April 2012, the income limit for you will depend on your own situation. But as a very rough guide, you might not be able to get Child Tax Credit from 6 April 2012.

Are you conflating a number of changes?
The proposed 26k benefit cap is for all benefits, including tax credits, and this is to ensure that no households on benefits gets more than £500 per week (average earnings, I think) from their combined benefits.
plus
there are some changes to eligibility to child tax credit (the income level to be eligible for them is reducing).0 -
I hope the cap comes in including child benefit. They just had a woman on BBC news asking why she should give up a good standard on living!! The only worry is the fact that most of these people won't give up their fags, booze, iPhones and UGG boots and the kids end up suffering. And so what if people have to move to a cheaper part of town! I think councils should be out buying back ex council houses when they come up for sale and that way we stop privite landlords getting rich off the state!EVERYTIME YOU THANK MY POSTS A PUPPY DIES!
