Balance Transfer Cards & Credit Limits

We are looking to apply for a balance transfer card soon, to transfer from a Virgin Credit Card. I know it differs from person to person but interested in what companies generally give good credit limits. Income of £30K, also have a tesco credit card but this is paid off in full monthly only use it for Tesco Points. I notice barclays seem to have good deals are we likely to get a limit of £4k tho.

Thanks

Very difficult to say on the information provided as your limit (if accepted) will be based on not just yoru income but also your existing debts and available credit etc.

In my experience I've always found MBNA/Virgin stable give the best limits, but barclaycard are not far behind.

£4k on a new card with BC certainly isn't beyond the realms of possibility, but its hard to be more specific than that.

  • I would say if your credit rating is good (equifax) then you will likely get a £4000 credit limit or close on a Creation 0% BT credit card.
  • Thanks both :) will look into creation card as never heard of it.

We used to have alot of available credit but got rid of other credit cards a while ago. And only other debt is our mortgage. Last time credit reports were checked everything was fine. Virgin credit limit is £7.5K and Tesco recently increased it to £5.5K altho the bill is rarely more than £500 monthly.
  • Just applied and been accepted for the 2 year barclay BT card with a £9,200 limit :)
