Dashboard rattle / vibration
The top of the dashboard in my Nissan Primastar ( same as Vauxhall Vivaro / Renault Trafic) is slightly loose and therefore vibating/rattling. It's the part which goes from one side of van to the other, across the very top of the dashboard.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Had the van serviced but the mechanic doesn't seem to want to take it on.
Thanks in advance

Is your van still under warranty?
No, the mechanic will not want "take it on". As a former workshop foreman, I can tell you what he would be thinking - that is the kind of job which could take many man-hours and possibly end in no resolution of the problem. You would not want to pay for the work if that was the case, and he would be out of pocket. If you have never removed a dash, you would not believe what lies beneath! I have known indicators and/or lamps to stop working, all kinds of electrical problems can result. I even know of one case in which the heater matrix ( small radiator that directs hot or cold air) leaked. If still under warranty, take it to the dealership.
Quick and dirty solution: if there is even the slightest gap at one or another side, insert a piece of foam rubber, using a plastic ruler (or similar-NOT metal) to get it into the gap. AT THE SIDE.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Thanks. No, not under warranty -private sale.
The front- where the dash meets the windscreen - seems to be the most effective place to wedge the foam rubber but you stressed at the side.
Is there a particular reason for this?0 -
I suspect it's because it's not good to place any pressure on the windscreen.0
