Anyone managed a name change on Virgin Atlantic?

  • I have never booked a ticket with my middle name on, i have traveled to the Florida Twice and holland about 20 times and never EVER had my name questioned from ticket to passport.
  • I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for offering advice!

I emailed the travel agent and my sister spoke to her again and this morning I got a call to say that she had spoken to her manager/supervisor and they have agreed to change the name for a £50 fee, apparently it took a bit of persuading though!

So everything is sorted now and I'm more than happy with just a £50 fee :j

Now I just need to find out what kind of letter I need to arrange giving my permission for my sister to take my daughter out of the country. I can't find any info on the american embassy website so will try ringing them and also the airline to see what I can find out.

    Good news!

As for the documentation, check airline websites (BA and Virgin) and also see if our own FCO website gives any advice. Calling the US embassy is difficult, and they try to steer you towards premium rate telephone numbers (begining 090) that cost about 1.50 per minute and have long waits to speak to a person, so don't do that unless desperate. Your travel agent might know, but I can understand that you might not want to ask them at the moment.

Oh: that story about needing a passport valid for six months after the end of your trip is simply not true.
The Virgin site (Florida travel) states you must and I seem to remember being told the same by TCD when we travelled with them also. Also check out this website Floridasuncentre
REMEMBER YOUR PASSPORTS...AND DON'T FORGET YOUR VISAS!
You MUST have a FULL passport, VALID for a min of 6 months from return date of travel and you should check with the relevant embassy for current requirements as these are subject to change.

The US Embassy site states a passport only has to be valid for the length of stay LINK.
