mis sold college course

Can anyone offer me advice? I started a college course a few months ago with a large college the costs were nearly a thousand pounds. I was interviewed for the course and had studied previously with this college but since startign this course the standard of teaching is dreadful i have complained to the college directly but they haven't been very helpful saying that they can't refund any of my fee's as i have started the course and said that the course isn't givernment funded so no refunds of any kind can be made. But surely if they don't offer what they sold me and other people have also complained there must be some way of getting some money back? i dopn't really know where to go with this - any help would be gratefully received? Many thanks....

I'm not sure that mis-selling comes into it. You've started a course but you think the standard of teaching is dreadful. That can be rather a subjective view. You need a concerted approach. If you can get everyone on the course to complain in writing to the college authority and board of governors (if colleges have these) then that might be a start.

  • Agreed. A lot of people on my degree course had the same issues around certain parts of the teaching style; however it was more because they had a vision in mind and the course wasn't aimed at that vision. What WAS being taught was being done so in a good way.

OP, if there's stipulation about things you'll learn on the course - and you're being taught them - then I'm not sure where you'd stand if you complain. It really is a subjective thing - other people thought my course was bad, i thought it was good. Styles and approaches differ between colleges and between courses.
