I had that too but when I logged in to NR it said up to 5 days for a letter to arrive before the account will be open. :)

    Update

Just checked on-line and the account is now open so not too bad after all, have just set up a transfer from Natwest to see how long that takes. :)

Hi All,I opened my account a few weeks ago and i transfer funds from my HSBC account,it does not go to Virgin immediately like my Tesco account used to,it registers as pending and does not show as cleared funds till 24 hours later.
I have called them and that is the way they operate they advised.

I did the same but it wasn't instant and took over 24 hours to clear as the poster abover mentions. I don't know whether it's because it was the first transfer in or whether all future transfers will take just as long.

Hi When i transfer the money from HSBC they advise you they have sent the money to Virgin but they are very smug telling you the receiving bank cannot confirm clearance of the transfer !!

I have today moved some money back from my Virgin account to natwest - the natwest account shows it as cleared (today), but Virgin still shows it as an uncleared transaction.

When I moved money from natwest to Virgin - again it deducts it straight away from my cleared funds in NW, but shows it as an uncleared transaction on the Virgin account for at least 24 hours.

Checked this morning and the money I transferred yesterday is now showing as cleared and available.

(I have posted the updates in case it is of interest to anyone else considering the account.) :)

Does anyone know if you get monthly/yearly statements by post for this account?

oes this account only pay 2.85%
    There are better rates available
I don't think there are any better accounts with no string attached e.g. bonus that dissapears after 12 months.

I have elderly aprents in their 80's and have to do the admin for them yearly (they are disabled, can't get out easily and don't have a computer).
I am choosing this account because it will save both them and me admin and travel.

If anyone know of a better "clean" account then please let me know.

It's also difficult for benefits claimants to keep track of which accounts you've had when you get asked for proof of savings and you've changed accounts every year, well it is if you're 84 and have dimensia.
