We've booked our flights for summer holidays in Mallorca.
Have stayed in both Port de soller & Puerto Pollensa & am looking for a similar type of place i.e.
very child / family friendly,
quiet without late pubs / clubs
nice beach
nice restaurants but without rows of english restaurants
Any recommendations gratefully accepted

I've stayed in Porto Petro and Calonge, both near to Cala d'Or.
They're both very quiet, a few restaurants, not many holidaymakers around. Is this what you're looking for? Porto Petro has, I think, a marina, Calonge is a few miles inland.
Good luck!

Thanks Alba 7. Sounds good, I'll have a look, but maybe need something a bit more lively.
Definitely need a beach for the kids, so Porto Petro sounds good.0 -
Think you may struggle to better the charm of Soller and overall feel of Puerto Pollensa personally. I love Puerto Pollensa but i would imagine it must be struggling in thsi recession as one of the pricier resorts to stay and live0

me + friends stayed at Jardenia(?) hotel in PP a few years back, on outskirt of town, near a rocky bay.. fairly quiet, with main block and a separate annexe in same compound, with indoor and outdoor pool..
easy walk into town, plenty places to choose from- our fave was on the beach, doing a great paella (cliche i know, but it was ace start to our stay!)Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Porto Petro is very nice, i visited it several times when i stayed in Cala D'or, if you stay there you have the fantastic nature reserve of Cala Mondrago right on the door step.0

I seem to remember a nice beach at Cala Mondrago. I have to point out that it has been a few years since I stayed in Porto Petro, although I visited it last year when I stayed near Cala d'Or.
Cala d'Or is livelier and has some nice "family oriented" areas - it's not all British pubs! My 8 year old nephew loved the beaches and adored the ride on the little train that runs around Cala d'Or. He'd have spent all day on that if we'd let him.0 -

We have stayed at the Iberostar Club Cala Barca a couple of times, it's all inclusive and I can recommend it. It's just along the coast from Cala D'Or near Cala Mondrago.A problem shared is a problem multiplied.0

Cala Bona, on the East Coast, has a lovely harbour surrounded by restaurants. They've spent some money there and it looks upmarket. From there, you can walk down towards Costa Los Pinos, which is very quiet, and has a long beach, or the opposite direction along the prom to Cala Millor which is a full scale holiday resort. Sa Coma is just a little bit further as well (jump on the toy train to get there).0
