or theres this machine b) http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=353930&tab=specification
Its available locally, so the cost difference is approx £60. However it does have DVi, a faster AMD Athlon 64 x2 processer, and 250gb of SATA HD. Oh and also firewire. So that extra balances itself out. I've yet to manage to find out however if it has a DVB-T tuner or if its analogue.
I'm also looking to upgrade my PC so that I can record TV, plus do some photo editing and surfing so these computers have caught my eye.
Although I am not expert, the comet one for £350 seems most appealing to me (+3.5% CB from Quidco brings it down to £336).
Might price up a similar spec on Dell and try a bit of haggling with them to see what I can get!!!0 -
ms2005 wrote:why don't you just buy a VGA-DVI adapter then. Less than a fiver on the bay or even maplins etc
please correct me if I'm wrong - but I dont believe you can go VGA - DVi - as VGA is an anologue signal - not without buying a converted for about 60quid upover.
You can buy DVi to VGA ones dirt cheap however.
If anyone goes into comet, please try and find out if the tuner has freeview or if its purely analogue - I even asked in Live Chat sales on the gateways website and they didnt have a clue

heh ooops - I know that the emachines one is analogue. I was thinking at that point in time about the £350 AMD 4200+ X2 machine. I've read so much the last cpl of days trying to find info and catching up on the current pcs that my heads on sideways remembering which thread belonds to which pc

I think this PC has been taken off the Comet web site because it was wrongly priced. I am sure as I said when I started this thread, that when I went to collect mine from my local Comet the price shown in store was £389, and a lower spec version with a P4 processor was £269.0

Just picked up a leaflet in my local Comet labelled "PC and Laptop Clearout"
which has about 15 desktops and 20 laptops on it, and the E4064 is priced at£269.99 so it is not a web mis-price. This unit is the best buy on the leaflet though, and stocks of all the items are limited, so if you can find one, grab it!0 -
the staples one is amazign a little mroe expensive but still geforce graphics card no tv tuner but who cares lolOne Man & His Mission To Save £1 Million :beer:0

Brad, the prices you saw were correct, but those prices INCLUDED a 17" or 15.4" widescreen monitor. Take that off and you have the base unit price. The labelling is very confusing as i had to do a double take myself!0
