game not playing anymore

ive been playing sim city societies on my asus x5DIJ laptop for the past few weeks with no trouble but, it now wont load and when i checked on can i run it it says it cant be run because i dont have enough cpu or the right video card........ive tried system restore to send my laptop back to when it did work but, its still saying the same...........any ideas please?

Try unistalling and reinstalling the game.

auto updated ? If so the new version may require extra hardware capacity. Even if you restore the old version, it may still "auto update" again. I don't know this program, but maybe there is a way to turn off auto update if that is the problem. good luck.

i uninstalled it but it wont go as far as being re-installed (tried a few times before i posted on here too)..........done all sorts of scans to check if theres any bugs, etc...............

how would i see if its been auto-updated?

auto update could only happen if it was installed AND connected on-line, to simcity.com, so this would not stop re-installation from orig CD.

How are you trying to install?

rrf - im just trying to install via the dvd rom it came with - im wondering if the problem is with the dvd drive but when ive checked it says its working ok and all latest drivers are installed.......

ive downloaded the demo again and its playing fine, so, i cant see how it says YOU CANNOT RUN THIS GAME on can i run it?........am going to wait till my hour free is up on demo and see if it lets me say ive purchased the game - it may give the option to put the serial number in and continue playing??????

other than that, im not sure what to do - maybe buy an external dvd drive?
