tax credits online calculator.

i have been looking online about claiming tex credits - my son has been out of work for a while and there is a very good chance he may have a job next week.
so looking online about tax credits and its saying he MAY be entitled to such and such per year, but not once, has it asked his income!!!
how can they calculate that without asking what his income will be?
the pay for the new job is very low (so it seems to me) only 13,995 per year with 44 hours per week, which isnt a lot when you have a partner and two kids. (btw, he is 32 years old) so tax credits would come into the frame here i think??? it seems to me that it is probably almost the national min wage for his age group.
any one help on roughly what he MAY be entitled to on that sort of wage??

Try here for a rough estimate - http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_calculator.aspxI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
