I'd be interested to know why you think so?

Seems arbitrary to cut off the validity of the claim when the carpet is lifted. I'd say an intention to replace imminently means no financial loss is suffered.

(Presuming the intention for the old carpet is to dump it. If the OP planned to sell it S/H for example, her loss would be the S/H value)

I my experience it would be dealt with on an indemnity basis so it would have to be replaced as long as it was in an acceptable condition.

The claim would be scrutinised very closely to make sure there was no dishonesty involved however.

Hi all, well the inspector came and we have now been offered a price and luckily B&Q takes the mandates so I'll be getting some new flooring. I did mention to the inspector I was looking at to get laminate flooring, and he said it's understandable considering my cat would probably want to rip up some new carpets!
