How far in advance should I book trains for cheapness?
Hi
I am going to Manchester in April from Pembrokeshire. Trainline.co.uk hasn't got the tickets up yet for the date I'm going but I tried looking at the week before to see how much I'm looking at and it's coming up as £73 one way from either Fishguard or Haverfordwest!
I always thought if you booked really far in advance you get them really cheap and I know it's not quite the date I'm going but it seems really expensive and it's as far in advance you possibly could for that date!
Advice?
Becky

'Advance' type tickets become available up to 12 weeks before he travel date. So if you're looking for later April you may need to wait a week or two yet.
Also, don't buy from the trainline as you'll pay extra fees, visit the website of a train operator like Virgin, Cross Country or First Great Western.0 -
Play around with split ticketing.
eg Fishguard to Cardiff is £8 single (advance), and Cardiff to Mcr is £13.0 -

Ooooh.. what days were you looking at for these prices?! that's really cheap.
I'm just slightly scared if I wait the tickets will only go up in price.
I will be travelling on 26 April, which I assume will be available next week!0 -
Just a random date (Tuesday 27/3/12).0
