Like to build a Sound to Light disco sequencer

Years back (when I was 14:eek:) I built a 240v sound to light sequencer from a Maplin kit that cost around £20 for all of the parts and a pre designed circuit board.
I thought of it the other day as I have a party coming up and for my own satisfaction I would like to be able to say that I built the light show. The problem is that I can't find any record of it on the Maplin site anymore so I wondered if anyone had any ideas on where I could get a good circuit design from or preferably a kit?
It was a 4 light sequencer and was just superb. I think my parents chucked it when I moved out.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Local library (periodicals section) for back issues of Practical Wireless or Practical Electronics from the 1970s?
Google for
"hobby electronics disco light sequencer kit"
and variations.
That's all I've got.0 -
Disco lights are so cheap these days, do you really need to build it yourself? Don't forget you'll need to get it PAT before using it.
You can pick up some PAR 56 cans (with bulbs) for about £15.00 each and a chaser for £20.00.
The LED version of the lights are approximately £30.00 each.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
I'm on track for what I want:-

I appreciate the PAR 56 idea. The thing is I fancy building another set and also, as we all know. No budding engineer got where he is today by worrying about PAT testing ;-)0 -
Even better:-

Oh, and I've decided to retract that last statement. I always PAT test my projects and would recommend that you all do the same! :-)0 -
