Paying for something in advance

Options
I've posted before about my income being irregular, but something else just occurred to me.

Next year I might need to drive for a new job, but I won't have my own car at that point. My wife has a car that she doesn't need for commuting and is happy for me to use, but she will have to add me to her insurance in November when it comes due. By that point I will be in a DRO (or bankruptcy) and I won't have the money, but I will have it in March. Can we ask her insurer what they would currently charge to add me for a year, and I give her the money to keep until November?

You dont have to be added to the insurance when the renewal is due UNLESS you will be driving the vehicle then!?

When it comes to needing to be insured on the vehicle, ring the insurers and have your name added to the policy then

  • That's when I'd need the car, from November when the insurance is due. Do you know if I can pay my wife in advance for it? Or would I be allowed to save for it in my monthly budget, to have enough money by Nov?

Tell your intermediatry the issue there, and under insurance on your SOA your part of the insurance cost from november to the point where your 12 months would be up can then be worked out over 12 months so you can put a little away each month from your SOA...

Im not 100% on that but it makes sense to me! Your allowed an amount for insurance per month anyway
