What's your end goal when you retire?

I can tap in to work pension at 60, not been in scheme for a lot of years compared to others. Bought a few years though, by paying in my private scheme funds into works. Five year to go, all going well?
No depts, not bad with invested funds, considering our current climate. Plan is to move to France (OH is French, have property there) live the good life from growing our own on a substantial plot, already a few various fruit trees bearing fruits, includuding walnuts...yummy!!
We have a campervan, which we use to travel around, so far, Scotland, upgrade with either savings, or lump sump sum, with a view to travelling around Europe when we please?
Assess property markets nearer proposed retirement time, either sell house, or lease?

My goal?
Simple - mortgage paid off, relocate to as close as I can manage to the Lake District fells and spend my days tramping around on said fells. Add in a big enough garden that I can grow my own veggies (on non-walking days) and that'll suit me just fine.
Oh - and that's to be as soon as possible, I have no intention of slaving away unitl normal retirement age, let alone state pension age. I'd rather have a smaller (but sufficient) pension and be able to do what I want than a larger pension and be too knackered to be able to do it.
Another 5-6 years with luck and work will be history

5 years to my planned retirement date at 55 already got a paid for house and pension provision and savings building nicely, my plan is to spend my last £5 the day I die at 116 having got full value from said pension. Seriously I have plans to travel and just generally enjoying life doing just what I like.0

Give the wife the slip, hopefully. Spend lots of time on here boasting about my wealth. Lie about said wealth if it's not v impressive.FACT.0

I hope to live long enough to get to retirement age. I should do, but there's always that nagging doubt at the back of my mind that the docs got my differential diagnosis wrong, in which case I won't. Which would be a great shame as I've built up a stonking pension. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I'm already retired, if you can call rescuing a run-down smallholding retirement. With 5 acres at the back, a commercial polytunnel and a couple of building projects, I'm not hard-up for things to get on with, but it'll be touch & go whether we finish it all before the money runs out.
If we do finish, we'll probably look around for another one.
As far as I'm concerned, there's no 'end goal.' If I ever find myself thinking "That's it, I've got there at last!" I'll be ready for my box. :A0 -

I probably will be very old and weak by the time I get to retire.

Feet in the sand any and every day I choose without freezing weather. No need to heat outside pool.
Pension and other funds attracting no taxation whatsoever.0 -
When I retire I'd like to be healthy, enough income to get by, and secure.
Beyond that, I'd like to have a society which respects elderly people like myself and which believes it has to pay for them.
I'd like respect from younger people, and not fear to step outside my front door.
I'd like to feel I understood my community, and felt confident in it, not it changing to something I didn't recognise.
I'd like to switch on the news, and not feel like Armageddon was around the corner.
I'd like to see a return of good manners, and general warmth between people in the community..

Wishful thinking,it'll never happen.
Just look at today and things are getting worse all the time.
Don't know how old you are but the way they demonise pensioners (esp on these boards) they'll be stringing you up by the time you retire.
You'll be expected to give your self in for euthanasia.

In fact, thinking about it, many of these things aren't related to the pension I will receive.
Looking at your list, if you've not seen the film 'Harry Brown' I'd recommend it!0
