chaps transfer - please help!

folks, i would have rung nationwide but they are closed now. let me explain: solicitor has just rung me and i will be exchanging in a few days. i want to do a chaps transfer but my monies are in a nationwide account. is CHAPS still applicable to a building society also (or only to banks in which case i will have to transfer all my monies into my barclays account which is not something i want to do). also, can you tell me the approximate cost of a chaps transfer (i intend to go in and do this tomorrow). thanks as always :)

    Hello

Yes you can do a CHAPS transfer via Nationwide. You will just need to take ID with you eg passport and proof of address. It is done the same working day so if you transfer the monies tommorow it should reach the same working day. It should roughly cost around £25 - £30 to do a CHAPS transfer.

    Hope this helps.

  • Why are you doing CHAPS at the expense? May as well just do a normal transfer.. ?

Or pay in cash over the counter at a branch of THEIR bank?
