Panasonic TV Red Blinking Light

Options
I am posting to ask if anyone has recently had any favourable outcomes to this problem with some Panasonic TVs.

I purchased a Panasonic TH-42PX70B (a 42" Plasma TV) from Laskys online in 2007 for a little over £800.

From day one, when I tried to turn it on with the remote, the red power light would blink several times before turning on. Sometimes, it would not turn on at all - it would just blink red several times. But if I continued to hold down the power button on the remote, it would eventuall turn on.

Rather than go through all the hassle of returning the TV, I just thought it was a little "idiosyncracy" of the TV and it was not too much of an inconvenience to me.

However, yesterday the TV just died - no lights, nothing. Just dead.

I Googeld and found that in fact it seems this red blinking light is a code for an inherent problem with some of the Panasonic TVs at that time. The dimwit that I am, did not realise this.

Bearing in mind that we are 4 and a half years after purchase, and that I only had the standard 12 months warranty - any advice? Is it worth contacting Laskys/Panasonic about the inherent fault?

Thank you

I think you may be getting confused with the rapid succesion of flashes that the power light emits when turning on from standby, ie, you have to hold the power down a few secs until it switches on fully and the power light flashes as you do this before turning green. This is quite normal, probably a feature to prevent the TV coming out of standby if the power button has been accidentally pressed.

The series of blinking lights to show a fault code is something entirely different.

The only ones who can offer a remedy at this time is your retailer but it'll be doubtful you get anywhere given the age of the TV.
