  • I think that we all know that insurance company's claim its all about risk ect
so let them open up the books to see how they assess each individual, and why can we not insure the car not the individual.

See a broker who will be able to find you an any driver policy (though there may be age restrictions).

    It won't be cheap though!

That's a bit like asking for the recipe for coca-cola.
They are under no obligtaion to describe how they price, but you can work some many aspects out for yourself if you so desire, for example quote with a Liverpool postcode and then put in a hampshire postcode and see the difference by postcode.
and why can we not insure the car not the individual

Well I'd say that the individual is highly relevant and probably the most relevant piece of risk related information.
It's not cars that have the most expensive claims it's individuals.
Obviously some claims (like vandalism or theft) do not involve a driver, but those are not the most expensive ones by a long shot.
The most expensive claims (millions for death or injury) involve an individual driver.

But anyway, it isn't up to consumers to decide how the industry works and sets it's prices.
If you don't like any particular company then vote with your feet.
If you don't like the industry then it's a bit more difficult but we live in a demoncracy and you could campaign with others for change.

I would have to pay a massive £525.50 extra for being unemployed, well, think about it, if your going to put a man or woman down then do it right the first time,

Its not putting you down. It is reflecting the fact that the unemployed are more likely to suffer a claim than an employed person. In particular fraud. Insurance is all about statistics and as a pot of people, the unemployed are more likely to claim. That doesnt mean all will and it doesnt mean all will commit fraud. It just means more will than employed people and therefore the risk is higher as claim payouts will be higher than therefore premiums will be higher.
o let them open up the books to see how they assess each individual, and why can we not insure the car not the individual.

The car doesnt commit fraud. The person does. The biggest factor in any claim is the individual and their actions. Not the vehicle.

  • we get told day in and day out, what to do and, what to think, we have, spin doctors and we have advertising, we have sensory overload.

we all have our own thoughts on the rights and wrongs of the way car insurance is worked out, it just leaves a lump in my throat when i see such a wide gap between being employed or unemployed and being a person who has got years of no claims bonuses.I never made a fraudulent claim, so why should i be punished for it, or why should i be punished because i live in a not so desirable location. wouldn't any person, if they could move to a more desirable area, so yes i think the system is corrupt and in need of some real sociable rethink as to how we let company's push us around

I'd be interested to know what you are going to do about it.
Moaning on a forum won't get anything done I'm afraid.

That is the nature of insurance. With life assurance, you are priced on your age and health. And doesnt mean YOU will die next year but some will. The more likely something will happen, the higher the price will be.

The fact is that unemployed people make more claims. If you like in an area of high risk to the insurer and are unemployed then the risks just keep mounting.

Communism failed. So, if you dont want capitalism, what is your alternative and who is going to pay for it?

  • Moaning on a forum,
Is discussion not the first steps, are views not looked at, and thought about, then from discussion do we not find the correct questions to ask, further on do we not find what steps we need to take to make changes.

This is what i was hoping to do, this is my first steps.

Moaning is one thing. It doesnt really get you anywhere. Better to understand the reasons and if you think that is still wrong then try and think of rational alternatives. In many cases, what we have is the lesser of the alternative evils. In many cases there is no alternative solution that will work. You just have to accept that you cannot please 100% of the people 100% of the time.

Hopefully when the Bank bashing stops the government and the regulators will focus on the Insurance companies.

Maybe a refund to all customers for the past 5 years premiums.
Mr Straw described whiplash as "not so much an injury, more a profitable invention of the human imagination—undiagnosable except by third-rate doctors in the pay of the claims management companies or personal injury lawyers"
