And I've stupidly put this thread into the wrong section, meant to be in the UK section *think I need a lay down*

I am planning a Jersey visit for March. I am planning on flying out on Sunday 11 March 2012 and flying back Saturday 16 March 2012. However this whole flight thing is confusing me. I will be honest with you I have NEVER BOOKED a flight, and it's all confusing. Would it be better for me to book through an airline or book through someone like fly.co.uk or something? I plan on flying out from London Gatwick in the afternoon. I think I've found a guesthouse to stay in :o So confusing for me. I've booked ferries and stuff, but never a flight. :o

I do apprecriate your help and obviously try to help people in the areas I know about, but this whole flight thing is giving me a dizzy head!!

Flights to Jersey from LGW are with Aurigny - www.aurigny.com and flybe www.flybe.com

Flybe return is going to be around £90 plus baggage (and they charge a lot) with no changes allowed. Aurigny will be around £160 inc bags and they allow changes for £25 plus any additional flight charges.

You also must ensure that you have adequate travel insurance as the CI are not part of the UK and all medical treatment is undertaken on a private basis. I think that there may be a reciprocal health agreement in Jersey but not sure.

Take a day trip to Guernsey if you can whilst there - Jersey is quite commercial - Guernsey is quaint with cobbled streets and a lovely marina. You can take a bus tour around the island and there is no VAT - Jersey has a sales tax.

    Enjoy your visit.

I apprecriate your kind reply, thank you :) I've got Nationwide travel insurance :)

Since I am going for 5 nights or so I won't be taking very much.

If you haven't yet booked your accommodation, it may be worth contacting Jersey Tourism. I went to Jersey for a week last year around the same time - the tourist season hadn't started and I got a great deal staying in a 3 star hotel (The Mayfair) in St Helier for only £25 a night, which included a huge breakfast and access to the health suite. I had previously been looking at B&B's but they were pretty expensive. Hope you enjoy your holiday!

That would be a good idea, thank you :) I will do that. I haven't booked anything YET, but think I shall go with BA and they came to £100 or so, whereas Flybe had all these hidden charges.

Good news!! I went with BA to Jersey a few weeks ago for Work. Very nice flight and service. I only spent a day there which was a good thing because shops there are very expensive!! I was really surprised. Just basic food items are cheaper in the UK.

Thank you :) I did think BA, well, been BA, should be a nice airline to erm...have my first flight with :o. :o

Yep, you read it right, I've never flown before :o Ferries, yes, been on, but never flown.

Not surprised it's expensive there, I haven't worked out what I am doing about food yet, but I shall work something out.
