Playstation 2. Any 2 player games?

Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting a PS2 for my 2 boys aged 6 & 8.

As I can only afford to buy one console (and they will probably fight over who's turn it is..:( ), I was wondering if anyone knows if there's many '2 Player' PS2 games about for around that age group?

I dont have much experience of Playstations, and would appreciate some advice.

Thanks!

Would you be better off buying a wii, much more about family entertainment rather than hardcore gaming? Playstations to me seemed aimed at an older market.

    Have a look HERE

Gives you an idea. The ps2 is cheaper and with the upcoming ps3 maybe the games will get cheaper too. Most of the old ps1 games can be played and you can get them at car boot sales etc. You can also rent them for a few nights as well from choices etc.
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!

  • Burnout 3 is a wicked racing game (review here), single player or 2 player split-screen. Should be cheap now, but its still one of my faves.

As far as I know, all PS1 games should run on a PS2.

The original XBox is quite good for multiplayer games, Halo and Dead or Alive are always fun

    Hi

I know what you mean about having two kids playing with a PS2!

Have you thought about a Gamecube instead - fairly cheap second hand and the games are more child friendly for the ages you've mentioned. I think they should be about £35 second hand. Or try a PS2. There are loads of two player games about.

If you have a Gamestation shop near you - https://www.gamestation.co.uk - the staff are normally very helpful and knowledgeable and you get the chance to buy second hand consoles and games. Alternatively look at some of the local second hand games shops as they are just as good.

    Hope that helps.
  • We have a couple of really good games- Mary Kate and Ashley "sweet 16" wich is a board game format with mini games- OK it is for girls, but DS is happy to play and beat them:rotfl: (Mini games include things like jetski racing etc!) and a bizairre japanses thing "kuri-kuri mix" ( I think) which is very well thought out in a strange japanese cartoon rabbit way!! Things you do affect the other half of the game play and vice versa, you have to cooperate or noone can progress through the levels (eg doors open , floor disappear when you jump a fence etc). My 3 are 7, 11 and 13 and have fun with it!
Don't forget eye toy and singstar games too- singstart 80s (apart from the singing bit ) has a hillarious pingpong game that you control with the pitch of your voice

Gamestation are brilliant- they do really know about the games including different age groups/special interests, you get the feeling the have played the games too-unlike GAME where I don't bother now since I looked at DS games and they couldn't even tell me which needed 2 cards for multiplayer use:mad:

...and the "Point Blank" and "Time Crisis" games. Great fun.

    Ditto the "Buzz" quiz games.
