windows media player SHOULD play DIVX files aslong as you have the DIVX codec on your system.
check out the Storm codec (google it), install and you should be able to play just about everything.
the file itself, right click and choose 'open with' then select win media player:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -
Thanks I know would work in Windows Media Player but I would like to know if I can transfer DIVX to windows media player so I can play back the file onto DVD.0

to transfer a DIVX file require more than standard XP media player.
you would need something along the lines of Nerovision Express to encode the DIVX file to a proper DVD format in the Video_TS files that you'd see if you put a normal DVD into your PC and went into the folder on the disc.
The software you require is a DVD authoring software and a DVD burner drive.
You could also encode to VCD but the quality is less than DVD.

By transfer do you mean be able to play .divx or .avi extension DIVX encoded files? If you can't get them to play in WMP after you have installed the codec, try out VLC (VideoLAN, freeware) from http://www.videolan.org/0
