My first wedding focused trip to a car boot sale..

..was a success!!! :j

Ok so I did only spend £9.50.
For my money I got 2 chunky wooden pillar candlesticks (currently retailing in shops for £6 each), a tall fancy gold tea light holder with swirly bits, 100 gold sparkly tea lights, 2 very pretty brooches to begin my collection (i am making a flower and brooch bouquet - look at pinterest natashajayneh to see the example I am trying to get close to)and a gorgeous sparkly bracelet (thank you gift for bridesmaid maybe if I can bear to part with it)

same time next week then :D

How much were your brooches? I'm hoping to get mine from car boots but wondered how much to pay and how many I'll need?
  • 25p each!!! I was stunned, lol. I kind of figure on paying up to £1 per brooch and was considering a trip to primark to buy some of their very cheap jewellery so I am currently doing well.
  • How many brooches do u think you'll need?

I read somewhere that you'll need 80-100 brooches, depending on the size of the bouquet.

I suppose you'd need fewer if you used more flowers.

I'm considering making one of these in case I can't get the flowers I want when we get to Vegas. My other idea was to just use silk flowers, gotta make a decision!

From the tutorials I've seen all you need is some floral wire, floral tape and some ribbon.

You use the wire to make 'stems' for the brooches and wrap in the floral tape. Then you just arrange them as you would do flowers and wrap all together with the ribbon, doesn't sound too hard, does it?

Off to google for a tutorial...

OK, tutorial (1o of many!) here : http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-ideas/diy-brooch-bouquet-tutorial

Others use a floral foam (is that the right term?) ball and stick the wires into that.

    HTH :D
