Is the splitter wired into the telephone cable entering the fax machine?

It may be intended for you connect another phone to it.

Can you uplaod a photo of it on here.

Yes the cable on the splitter was connected to the Epson. Have disconnected the cable from the Epson so only the phone is plugged in at the wall at the moment. I'm afraid I can't upload a photo - I just can't understand why the BT one won't work when the Motorola will. Tried taking the splitter out but it seems stuck and I don't want to force it and break it. I appreciate your instant help very much but I think I'll have to admit defeat and return the BT one to the shop.

The splitter may be built-in to the telephone cable supplied with the fax machine - this is quite common.

I'm not sure the problem is with the phone? It seems that the ringer may be switched off.

Are you able to answer the phone when the fax machine rings?

Have you allowed the batteries in the handset to fully charge?

The ringer is ok as it worked on the other land line. Yes the splitter is built in to the cable supplied with the fax. No I can't answer the phone when the fax rings - it seems to be being bypassed. I have admitted defeat and boxed it up to return to the retailer. Many thanks for trying to help me - I really appreciate it.
  • Maybe you try the Internet fax service (ex. Popfax.com), thus you'll not need your fax machine, office supplies and additional software. Only an Internet connection is required. I think it's time to reevaluate our communication means.
