I have been operationing wirelessly for a while now with an Acer laptop connected via wireless router to a HP deskjet 3050 printer - all has worked fine.
Bought another laptop for another member of the family and try as we might it has been impossible to connect this 2nd Dell laptop to the HP printer wirelessly - when we try to "add printer" it goes through all the processes and we then merely get a message words to the effect that "driver not found" - as we are already running the printer without probs I would have thought merely adding a second on a wireless network would have been simples - any thoughts ?

When you add a new wireless printer to a laptop, it should automatically find the correct driver if the laptop has a good Internet connection.
If not, you can manually download the driver from the manufacturer's website. If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!

thanks myser - I do have the original installation disc for the printer - would any harm be done if I tried this disc in the newly acquired laptop ?0

Or just use the disc that came with the printer which you used to install the printer on the first computer:)
Or download it if you don't have the disc available.
If the printer was wired by USB to the first pc then you could connect to it without the need for the software as you would be connecting to the printer through the pc it was connected to via your network:)0 -

No problem in using the original disc. Probably best to obtain the latest software from the manufacturer's website though. If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!
