Advice on my PPI complaint letter

Hi

Could someone kindly take the time to read my draft letter that I intend to send to some of the lenders that missold me PPI a few years back?

My complaint is based mostly on the fact that I felt I had no other option but to take out the PPI otherwise I would not have obtained the loan/finance I applied for.

I just don't want to trip myself up so would appreciate your help. My draft letter is as follows:

I am writing to lodge a complaint in that I believe I have been missold Payment Protection Insurance for the above account and request that due to the following reasons below, an investigation be carried out into my complaint immediately.

The following reasons are the basis of my complaint:

At the time of the finance application I was not advised that Payment Protection Insurance was optional;

I was not advised that Payment Protection Insurance was my choice and that I could have purchased the insurance from a different company at a cheaper price;

I was advised that if I took out the insurance I would stand a better chance of obtaining the finance;

I was not at the time advised of any significant exclusions, for example I was not advised that I would not be covered for certain pre-existing medical conditions;

I feel I was given no other option but to take the Payment Protection Insurance out otherwise I would not have obtained the finance that I had applied for.

I look forward to a response within 12 working days.

Would this be ok to send??

Thanks again.

Gary

    Verbal allegation with no proof - easy for them to reject.

    Verbal allegation with no proof - easy for them to reject. Unless you happen to have significant pre-existing conditions (pre-existing refers to ongoing medical complaints or reoccurance of a medical complaint that was recently an issue at application)

    You feelings are an allegation with no proof - easy for them to reject.

    Your complaint reasons are very weak. Verbal allegations with no proof turn into a he said/she said scenario. You could be one of those opportunistic try-it-on complaints that is telling lies or you could be genuine. Without evidence there is no way to tell. So, unless there is another failing, they can reject your complaint.

    If this is a loan, then you have missed the most obvious complaint reason - single premium PPI added to debt and charged interest on. That is where most loan PPI complaints win their case. Also, if you do have pre-existing medical conditions which invalidate the insurance, then state what you have. Hypothetical medical conditions are not going to win your complaint.

    Hi

    Thanks for the feedback.

    I was diagnosed with scheurmanns disease in my spine a few years before taking out these loans, still on daily medication for it and always will be so perhaps I should focus on that and that alone?

    Cheers

    You should state the health position so they know you are not talking hypothetical. Although do excuse my lack of medical awareness when I say that it would only prevent claims on the policy with that condition and any condition linked to it. Unrelated conditions would still be covered.

    However, single premium with interest should also be mentioned.
