Hi
I have a Salus RT500RF fitted & having problems with it,display reads say 20 deg,it will be set to be say 8 Deg & the boiler is running & the rads very hot.
I am looking to replace it with a Honeywell wired unit,as i have had one in my old house with no problems whatso ever.
So what is a good/the best Honeywell to go for??
The Salus has temp settings but NO on or off settings, and this is what i am used to
Cheers in advance

Have you ruled out problems with the way you are using it?
- Is it actually communicating with base?
- Is the base wired in correctly?
- Are you running it in a room without TRVs on the rads?
- Is the rad actually on in the room with the Salus?
- Is the display on the Salus a target temperature and not an actual temperature?

This type of programmable thermostat is much more versatile than a simple Honeywell wired thermostat once you fully understand how to use it. You need to determine if there is actually a problem with the unit or if the problem is the user.
Are you sure that it is actually programmed for 8 Deg for that day at that time?
Is the time AM/PM set correctly?
Is it programmed for 7 days or weekdays + weekend?
What happens if you use the Override function? (page 13 of Instruction manual) Can you turn off the boiler using the Override function? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

You don't sound sure - have you read the instructions?
When you overide the programmed temperature to a temp that is lower than the actual temp, does the calling for heat flame icon disappear? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Ok,yesterday everything seemed to be going right.....set for 7 deg @ 9:30pm....come 10pm & the boiler is still running & the rads hot.
I went d/stairs to the stat & its got 18 deg on the display,so i pressed the down button & it was on 7 deg (as set)....but boiler still running.....so i turned it off at the receiver, boiler turns off.
This is a problem to me,so reading around Salus are very poor quality, and im going to get a 'wired' Honeywell unit as i have used one in my old house for over 9yrs with 'no' problems at all
thanks for your input, thats what i ove about this forum, always some one around to help out

So was the calling for heat flame icon displayed?
Is there a symbol like this displayed?
so i turned it off at the receiver, boiler turns off.

I disagree that Salus are very poor quality, I have one myself and it has worked flawlessly for years!

Perhaps the Salus programmable stat is simply too complicated for you! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
change the batteries they are prob enough for the display but not enough to send a signal to the reciever i get phone calls about this all the time,
BTW the rad containing the room stat should be fitted with locksheild valves at both ends it should not have a trv on it.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
